What we do

We provide medical care and support services focused on improving quality of life for patients and their families who are facing life-limiting or life-threatening illness. This is done through an interdisciplinary team approach to preventing, assessing and treating pain and other physical, psychosocial and spiritual concerns, whether the goal is cure or care.

Services are patient- and family-centered, focusing on the needs of both the patient and his/her family and may include: hospice, palliative care consultations, grief support and special services for children.

Who we serve

Approximately 50% of hospice patients receive services in their own home, though care can be provided wherever the person is residing.

Midwest CareCenter works with more than 70 nursing homes and assisted-living facilities to provide home wellness services and hospice care to residents.

Other services can be provided at home, in our hospice inpatient unit, at a retirement center, in the hospital or in a physician's office.

How we’re growing

Our Service Board and Friends of Jewish Care Services are committees of dedicated volunteers who work to raise funds and increase public awareness of our mission by holding events throughout the year.

The Keeping Our Promise campaign is a current effort to raise $18 million for our inpatient pavilion, healing garden and endowment fund. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2011 and when completed, it will be the first freestanding inpatient hospice facility in Cook County.
