Hospice inpatient unit
… for patients who require intensive, 24-hour care.
- Patients on our hospice inpatient unit receive comprehensive care that is focused on symptom management and emotional support.
- Family members also receive psychosocial and spiritual support.
A patient’s team of hospice specialists includes a:
- Physician
- Nurse
- Certified nurse’s aide
- Social worker
- Chaplain
- Volunteer
We will work with your own physician, who will continue to be a key member of your hospice team.
- If you have Medicare Part A, the Medicare Hospice Benefit will cover the cost of inpatient hospice care.
- We will work with your insurance provider to determine your benefits if you have private insurance.
- Financial assistance and charity care are available if you are under- or uninsured.
Each of the 16 private patient rooms is equipped with:
- An adjustable hospital bed
- TV/DVD player
- Storage cabinet
- Convenient daybed for overnight visitors
- The kitchen, library and chapel provide quiet, comfortable spaces to relax outside patient rooms
- … Or to catch up on business at the computer work station.
- There is no age restriction on visitors, and we encourage loved ones to visit any time.
- Family pets are also welcome.
Our hospice inpatient unit is located on the campus of Skokie Hospital.
