CareCenter for Kids offers support for children, teens and their families as they deal with serious illness or the death of a loved one. The costs of these services are covered by donations; there are no fees for any of the services provided through our CareCenter for Kids program.
When young people face the challenges of a life-threatening illness or the death of a family member, their needs and reactions often differ from those of adults. At the same time, adult family members or caregivers may feel overwhelmed by or uncertain about the needs of the children during this time. Families with Children offers support groups for children and teens who are living with someone who has a terminal illness or grieving the loss of a close family member or friend. This program also provides individual and family counseling.
Children and teens often benefit from the chance to share the personal challenges of grief with their peers in the context of camp experiences. Our annual grief support summer programs, CampCare, help campers cope with the loss of a loved one while they enjoy art, theater, music and sports activities and fun with friends. CampCare programs include both day camp and overnight camping opportunities, depending on age level.

When your child is seriously ill, you may be concerned about improving his or her quality of life, finding help as you face difficult decisions, and helping siblings and friends understand what is happening. CareCenter for Kids offers non-medical supportive services to help.
