
Jamie M. O’Malley became president and chief executive officer of Glenview-based Midwest CareCenter in October 2010. Previously vice president and chief nursing officer at The University of Chicago Medical Center, Ms. O'Malley brings more than 30 years of clinical and business experience to this position.
Ms. O’Malley has a master’s degree in nursing administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Georgetown University. She holds a Wharton Fellows Certificate in Management for Nurse Executives from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders, the American Organization of Nurse Executives and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society.
From 1998 to 2010, Ms. O’Malley worked at University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC), first as deputy chief nurse of the children’s hospital, now known as Comer Children’s Hospital. In 2000, she was promoted to vice president and chief nursing officer at UCMC. During her tenure, the medical center achieved measurable improvements in patient, family and employee satisfaction; significantly improved patient quality and safety measures; and implemented key strategic initiatives that resulted in it being designated with the Magnet Recognition in Nursing Award in 2007.
From 1982 to 1995, Ms. O’Malley worked at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, first as director of Inpatient Nursing and later as vice president of Patient Care Services. She also worked as a staff nurse at Georgetown University Hospital and later at Northwestern Memorial Hospital as a head nurse.
Committed to the advancement of healthcare and improving access to care, Ms. O’Malley has participated in advisory roles with the Nursing Spectrum Advisory Board, Power of Nursing Leadership Committee and other healthcare advocacy programs. She has spoken regionally, nationally and internationally on issues related to healthcare administration and nursing leadership.
